How do you advertise your books?

Oct 10, 2025 by Lori Colwell

I certainly appreciate the importance of reaching readers. In truth, reading the reviews, whether good or bad, gives me great satisfaction when the intended emotion and message rings through.  It's akin to leaving a surprise gift on your coworker's desk to find, wrapped in shiny paper and colorful bows but no card or occasion to give reason. Then, watching them look around the room, trying to figure out who sent it, only for their gaze to land on you. The gratification comes with their expression of excitement in the search. Yeah. When the book touches the reader enough to write the review, I revel in it, but when they feel it and write that in their review, it's so rewarding.
To admit, I claim introversion as my subspecialty, thus writing and reading, instead of whatever else there is in the great expanse of the world, and when I do venture out, social media has never been my personal confidant, although sometimes I try. Living in the moment is so much more enjoyable.
However, a social media presence is mandatory for readers to see our work, and gives me a showcase that doesn't place the spotlight directly on me.
You ask how I advertise? Well, I mostly post short AI videos to express my book’s likeness, a visual adaptation to give window into the highlights. In addition, I post release dates and other book information there, too. On occasion, I do slip out of my comfort zone and post some personal skits as well.

Please check them out on all my social media platforms!

What's the best thing about being an author?

May 22, 2022 by Lori Colwell
Goodreads asks the question:    What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Lori Colwell : Sometimes I miss the drama, but not my drama. Sometimes I crave the uncomfortable, but not my uncomfortable. Writing is similar to reading, in that it allows me to escape outside of my everyday revolving door to experience something phantasmal. Creating a fantasy commissions emotion, imagery, and vicarious experiences that can be as simple or complicated as my yearn for escape desires. The best thing? Its the glimpse into possibilities and impossibilities.

My inspiration

May 08, 2022 by Lori Colwell

Hello all,

I am super excited to share with everyone an old taste of a new author to come. Yes, she's my firstborn and the face of my first book, It was Never a Choice, but if she weren't, I'd watch her work all the same. She's weaving her first book as we speak. Well, her first written as an adult. And for everyone who loves fantasy and romance, while mixed with a little gore, you'll love it. The words she plays with mortars a visual experience that captures your emotions and places your senses within the story. She's been writing stories since she was a kid and remains my inspiration for writing. I wanted to share one of her poems she created in her early teens—one still relevant in today's world—and one that, at the time, made me wonder whether I'd sent her out into the world after keeping her too sheltered, or if I was the cause of her worldview.

It was Never a Choice Series review

As an author, I wasn't really sure if anyone would have as much fun reading it as I did writing it. So, thank you Sam Ibeh for your official OnlineBookClub.org Review of 'It was Never a Choice: The Apperception'
