How do you advertise your books?
I certainly appreciate the importance of reaching readers. In truth, reading the reviews, whether good or bad, gives me great satisfaction when the intended emotion and message rings through. It's akin to leaving a surprise gift on your coworker's desk to find, wrapped in shiny paper and colorful bows but no card or occasion to give reason. Then, watching them look around the room, trying to figure out who sent it, only for their gaze to land on you. The gratification comes with their expression of excitement in the search. Yeah. When the book touches the reader enough to write the review, I revel in it, but when they feel it and write that in their review, it's so rewarding.
To admit, I claim introversion as my subspecialty, thus writing and reading, instead of whatever else there is in the great expanse of the world, and when I do venture out, social media has never been my personal confidant, although sometimes I try. Living in the moment is so much more enjoyable.
However, a social media presence is mandatory for readers to see our work, and gives me a showcase that doesn't place the spotlight directly on me.
You ask how I advertise? Well, I mostly post short AI videos to express my book’s likeness, a visual adaptation to give window into the highlights. In addition, I post release dates and other book information there, too. On occasion, I do slip out of my comfort zone and post some personal skits as well.
